Until There Was You by Kristan Higgins (Review and Giveaway!)

Summary/Cover Image from Publisher's Website:
Posey Osterhagen can't complain. She owns a successful architectural salvaging company, she's surrounded by her lovable, if off-center, family and she has a boyfriend—sort of. Still, something's missing. Something tall, brooding and criminally good-looking…something like Liam Murphy.

When Posey was sixteen, the bad boy of Bellsford, New Hampshire, broke her heart. But now he's back, sending Posey's traitorous schoolgirl heart into overdrive once again. She should be giving him a wide berth, but it seems fate has other ideas….
Review:

After reading Kristan Higgins' fun and spunky My One and Only, I couldn't wait to read more by her, so when Until There Was You, her newest book, landed on my radar, I knew I had to read it. Thankfully, it was just like My One and Only- hilarious, sweet, and full of heart!

Posey Osterhagen has never been that lucky when it comes to love, and she's beginning to think she's just not cut out for it. She's had more than her fair share of boyfriends from the good to the bad to the very bad, and it also seems that the guys she does fall for never want anything more than a quick fling. However, everything changes when Liam Murphy comes back to town. Broody and swoon worthy, Liam has her heart racing as much as he did back when they were teenagers. However, there are a few different things about this time. For one, Liam's a recent widower with a teenage daughter, and for two, Liam is actually showing interest in her this time. There's one problem, though: she can't forget about what happened all those years ago at Prom, the night he broke her heart into pieces....

The one thing I always adore about Kristan Higgins books are the characters and Until There Was You was no exception. Every single one, secondary or major, was fully developed personality wise and ended up influencing the book in small ways to big ways. One of my favorites was Posey. Sweet and snarky yet somewhat innocent, I had no problem rooting for her from the first page to the very last. In addition, I loved her set of friends and family in this one. Jon, for one, was HILARIOUS! Every time he came into a scene, I knew a funny part was soon to come. Kate, Posey's secondary sidekick, was great as well, and Posey's family was just the same. From her overprotective parents, to her seemingly oblivious brother, to her crazy cousin Gretchen, every single one was completely lovable at some point, and even if they weren't it was still hilarious as well as heartwarming, to see them all interact. Lastly, Kristan Higgings' introduced a new aspect in this one: a male POV. Liam was a complex character, one who constantly had me a little surprised, so it was an interesting twist to see things from his side, especially when the going got tough in his relationship with Posey.

The plot in this was also lots of fun! As with My One and Only, the main plot line in this is the relationship between the two main characters, but I had absolutely no problem with it. Because not only was it full of drama as well as steam, but it also developed at a reasonable pace. In addition, the lead up to what happened at the prom all those years ago was great! Other secondary plot lines included Posey's adoption as well as well as her ties to her family, and I really enjoyed seeing both of those. I felt it added some extra heart to the novel as well as some extra twists and turns.

Adorable and nothing short of sweet, Until There Was You is another solid attempt by Kristan Higgins, and I can't suggest it highly enough to romance as well as contemporary fans! All I can now say is: I can't wait to read more by her!
