Blog Tour: Blissful Lies by Jennifer Brown Thomas

As part of the blog tour for Blissful Lies by Jennifer Brown Thomas, I have a spotlight on the book and its author as well as a review for the book. So without a further ado...

Summary/Cover Image from Book's Website:
Things are often not what they seem in the decadent lifestyles of the rich and famous. Life can be messy and at times people do what feels wrong, because in the end it may turn out to be the best decision ever made. A close bond between 5 lifelong friends, now of college age, find the limits of their relationships are tested when multiple secrets and lies begin to surface, which ultimately leave them wondering if it is all too much to move forward as the family they once were. Forbidden love, drug dealing, date rape, betrayal, cheating, and more begin to unravel the strong ties between friends. Can they overcome secrets which warrant a very difficult life altering response?
Review:

When I first was offered the chance to be part of the blog tour for Blissful Lies, I was beyond excited. I loved the cover. It was sparkly and eye catching. The title also caught my eye as did the summary. Unfortunately, I didn't enjoy Blissful Lies nearly as much as I would have liked. Even worse, I gave it up after 100 or so pages.

The first area in which Blissful Lies didn't mesh well for me was the characters. I found them to be extremely materialistic and selfish. In addition, due to the changing POVs, I never really had the chance to connect to any of them, which as I've said before in previous reviews, can really break a book for me. In addition, the plot didn't capture my attention all that well. The premise was interesting enough, but I had a hard time believing the main romantic relationship. It seemed to come out of nowhere, and it had the insta-love feel to it too.

In all, Blissful Lies wasn't the book for me sadly enough. However, I still suggest you give it a try if it seems like the book for you (I really think fans who read Gossip Girl and the A List when they were teens or tweens may enjoy it). Others have enjoyed it. I just wasn't one of them sadly enough.

About the Author:
At just 25 years old, Jennifer Brown-Thomas is a celebrated book author and movie director. Her first novel, Blissful Lies, combines both of her passions.

Watch for more novels from Jennifer - the next on its way is Vindictive Grounds, the sequel to Blissful Lies. In February, Jennifer will begin directing the film version of this novel. She says, "It definitely has more of the explicit sexual contact comparable to Fifty Shades of Grey."
