About Me

Hi! First, thanks so much for visiting Lauren's Crammed Bookshelf. I'm so glad you're here and I sincerely hope you're enjoying your visit!

Since you're on this page, I'm sure you would like to find out a bit more about me, and good for you- this is just the place to be for that kind of thing!(:

About Lauren's Crammed Bookshelf:

I started Lauren's Crammed Bookshelf in May of 2008 as a way to share my love of reading with others and to meet other readers. Thankfully, I found that the book blogging community is the perfect place to do such a thing.

From 2008-2013, Lauren's Crammed Bookshelf developed in some big ways. I developed content on this site in the form of reviews, giveaways, and interviews/guest blogs. The New York Times and other news publications as well as fellow bloggers have interviewed me (Check out the links below!). I have had quotes from my reviews appear in several books. From 2013-2017, I was on a hiatus due to college, but as of 2017, I'm attempting to return to the blogging community!

Lauren's Crammed Bookshelf started as a blog mainly dedicated to Young Adult books, but over the years, I've began to include New Adult and Adult fiction as well.

My reviewing style is quite simple. I give a brief summary in my own words, talk about the characters, plot, and writing, and then wrap everything up with a brief sentence or two and grade- nothing too fancy nor too simple.

Fun Facts about Me (updated June 2017)
  • I currently live in Northeast PA (small town near the Poconos) but will be moving to the Allentown area in the fall.
  • I'm turning 22 this August.
  • I just graduated with my B.S. in Chemistry with a minor in Business.
  • I will be attending grad school in the fall!
  • In my spare time, you'll probably find me at a spin class, hanging out with friends, or reading a good book.
  • My favorite TV shows: Friends, Gilmore Girls, Modern Family, How I Met Your Mother, Revenge, Raising Hope, Grey's Anatomy, Scandal, Criminal Minds
  • My Favorite Authors: Sarah Dessen, Meg Cabot, Jennifer Echols, Abbi Glines, and many, many more!
  • I’m a little shy at first but once I warm up, you can’t get me to stop talking. ;)
  • I volunteered at my local library for five years, and this has a lot to do with my book obsession.
  • I've had several part-time jobs: tutoring, lab assistant, library worker, but my most unique would have to be working in my family's floral shop during high school (some day I really want to write a YA book involving a flower shop!).

  3. Lauren, I just wanted to let you know that, like Pa, I am always so proud of everything you do with your blog and your writing.

Also, I still plan on moving in with you when you are rich and famous, so keep that in mind when you leave "small-town-Pennsylvania." :)

    Love,
    Your Favorite Aunt (Amy)

  4. Hello Lauren,

My English teacher first introduced me to your blog last year while I was still in highschool. It has taken me this long to finally find your blog again. (I could not for the life of me remember the title). I am greatly excited that your blog can help me decide on more things to read since I'm a lover of reading myself.

Also, I know how the mountains of PA are. I'm from a tiny and boring town in NY. Good luck! I hope you can do as I did and break out of the area once you graduate! c:

    Best wishes,

  5. Lauren,
I am new to your site and can't wait to explore all the different reviews.
Before I decide to spend my money that i work so hard for, i like to look at some reviews for the book i'm about to buy. Numerous times i have read reviews that have been terribly deceiving, causing me to either waste my money, or pass up a really good read. So far, i've found your website to be fantastic. So i thank you for that!
Also, i can't help but love the fact that you're a small-town PA sophomore bookworm like myself.
    So keep on reviewing, Lauren!
