New in my Reading/Blogging/Personal Life:
Just when I think I'm not going to have a busy, busy week, I have a busy, busy, and did I mention BUSY week...BUT a break is in site...coming next weekend, I have Monday and Tuesday off, which will be nice!
As for reading, I was able to get to THE MEMORY TREES and 69 MILLION THINGS I HATE ABOUT YOU. THE MEMORY TREES was very good. The writing was lush, the plot was suspenseful, and the characters were lovable. 69 MILLION THINGS I HATE ABOUT YOU was the typical story of revenge turned to romance, and I loved every minute of it! The crazy things the main character thought off ALWAYS had me laughing out loud. And the romance in it? STEAMY STEAMY STEAMY! Currently, I'm in the middle of TWICE AS WICKED. Just as revengeful as 69 MILLION but this time with a historical setting. There's a character that likes to put emphasis on every other word and it's just so horrible yet so funny.
Anyhow, I'm glad I had a slower week bookwise. I'm very excited to check out SPINDLE FIRE. It was pitched to me as being perfect for fans of ASH - a book I LOVE. Also, if THE WOOD isn't perfect fall reading material, I don't know what is.
In non bookish news, I did have some time to catch up on some TV this week. Watched the first two episodes of Criminal Minds. I'm so happy to see the Scratch storyline finally put to rest. It's been so drawn out, in my opinion. I'm also excited that Matt has joined from Beyond Borders. I also watched the newest episode of Scandal, and I'm not too sure how I feel about it. I feel like this show's missing all the aspect that made me love it when it started. I also binge watched the newest season of Fuller House while I graded. It's one of my guilty pleasures, and while it's somewhat ridiculous at times (okay all the time) I'm never not laughing.
I loved A Messy Beautiful Life As for your books acquired I’ve heard of none, but love the covers lol great post!!
ReplyDeleteI really like some of the covers of the books you got this week. I will have to check some of them out. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteMaybe I'll have to start watching Criminal Minds again...I stopped when the story meandered on too long.
ReplyDeleteThe Memory Trees sounds good. Enjoy your week, and here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES
Enjoy your break, even if it is short one. :) Your new book look great, and I do hope that enjoy them.

Spindle Fire sounds like it could be interesting. I really enjoy fairy tale retellings and Sleeping Beauty is always a favorite. Can't wait to see the review! :)
ReplyDeleteLots of new books! I adored The Wood - it was so ethereal and atmospheric. I may binge-read the Spindle Fire books once the series is complete. The author is so nice. I hope you enjoy all of your new books!
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous week, Lauren. =)
Check out my STS post!
I really need to catch up on Criminal Minds but I'm so far behind. I know exactly what you mean about a busy week - it's never-ending sometimes! I hope that this week is a great one for you with some good books. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteI loved Spell Book and I am not a solid Fowley-Doyle fan . Her stories are so intricately woven and filled with atmosphere.
ReplyDeleteThe Memory Trees looks good, and so does The Wood. I have that one but haven't started it yet, but I love that cover! And yes looks like a fabulous fall read!!
ReplyDeleteHope the new week is a good one. :)
Oh my word you got Spindle Fire!! I'm so dying to read that!! Hope you love it, and I can't wait to read your review :)
ReplyDeleteAlso, The Wood is another one that looks amazing. And that cover alone just screams fall ;)
Sorry the week will be busy :( Hope things go smoothly and aren't too chaotic.
Enjoy those amazing books, Lauren :)
