Welcome back to New York Times bestseller Sandra Hill’s Cajun country, where love heats up the Louisiana bayou . . .
Former Chicago cop Simone LeDeux is back home in the bayou, sharing a double wide in the Pearly Gates trailer park to help her mama recover from surgery. Her one rule: no Cajun men. Loved and left by too many double-crossing Cajuns, Simone puts bad experience to good use by opening Legal Belles: an agency that uncovers cheating spouses.
Suddenly she’s confronting a two-timer about to swindle his wife out of millions and antagonizing New Orleans bigwigs over an illegal sex club. Adam Lanier learns of the dangerous game Simone is playing . . . and the sexy single dad comes to her aid. Known as a rogue in the courtroom and a player in the bedroom, the ragin’ Cajun has Simone triply on guard.
With their crazy chemistry, danger on their trail, and infamous LeDeux relative Tante Lulu working her magical matchmaking, the bayou has never been this steamy.
Review:
Sometimes I'm just in the mood for good old southern romance, and luckily, Sandra Hill's Cajun Crazy, the latest addition to her Cajun series, hit the spot just right. Amply laden with feisty banter, steamy romance, and "awww!" moments, Cajun Crazy shows just how fun the Louisiana Bayou can be!
Cajun Crazy features the alternating POVs of Simone and Adam.
Simone has always been a wild card when it comes to love. She's been married and divorced three times but what can she say? She just can't resist cajun men - she's cajun crazy! While relationships may not be her forte, she's sharp, fearless, and savvy when it comes to her business. I liked Simone from the get-go. She was hilarious and charming. Her relationship with her mother always had me laughing out loud, especially when her mother was constantly trying to butt into her love life. Gosh, nothing would stop that woman from setting Simone up. Additionally, I loved seeing Simone in the zone for work.
Adam has been burned by love too. Recently widowed, Adam has sworn off serious relationships and chosen instead to focuses on his adorable daughter. However, everything changes the moment Simone lands in his path. Suddenly, he's willing to take that chance again. Adam was incredibly likable as well. His relationship with his daughter and father was heartwarming, and I especially loved when his daughter doled out the sass - she always had me laughing out loud. I could also understand why he was so willing to give up on love. His past relationship with his wife was incredibly twisted to put it lightly. However, as soon as he meet Simone, I could see something positive happening there, and throughout the novel, I wished Adam and Simone would see it as well - they were just so funny and adorable together!
The plot in this included romance, sleuthing, and normal small town hijinks. The romance was steamy and well developed. I especially liked how Sandra took a slow-burn approach to it. It kept me on my toes! The sleuthing brought some mystery and suspense to the table. I really enjoyed Adam and Simone's cases, especially when it put them on opposite sides. Last but not least, the small town! What a crazy yet fun place! It was eccentric to say the least.
The only aspect that brought this book down a notch or two in my yes was all the southern slang used. It took a while to get used to; however, by the end, I grew accustom to it and saw that it did add some charm to the book.
In all, Cajun Crazy is a fun and slightly twisty romance read, and given the warm setting, it's the perfect read for the chilly days of winter!
