Books Read this Week:
The Beauty that Remains by Ashely Woodfolk: Beautifully written and incredibly emotional!
The Secrets We Bury by Stacie Ramey: I liked this one way more than I had antiquated. I loved the wilderness setting as well as the main characters.
Emergency Contact by Mary H.K. Choi: Couldn't tell at first if this was bad different or good different, but it truly managed to grow on me by the end.
The Midnights by Sarah Nicole Smetana: So, so good! If you love Sarah Dessen, you need this one on your list!
Life Update:
Another quick week! After being spoiled with warm temps and sunshine, my area was hit with the north easter on Friday. Luckily, we fared better than most other people, but it still made for some treacherous travel. I was just happy my power stayed on the whole time! There was a few times of flickering, but that's it.
During the storm, I got some good reading in. I really, really loved The Midnights - definitely my favorite book of the week! I'm also excited for my new books. I'm hoping to start Nothing Left to Burn soon!
Have a great week everyone!

So glad you made it through the storm okay! Thankfully, we didn't lose power, either.
ReplyDeleteI've read a few of Barbara Delinsky's books, this new one looks good! Have a great week!
Thanks, Angela! I haven't read any by Barbara before, but I've heard good things.
DeleteEmergency Contact looks like an unusual take on the YA relationships novel. Glad to have spotted it here :-)
ReplyDeleteStephanie Jane @ Literary Flits
It definitely was an unusual take! I feel like the whole book was a unique take in general. It wasn't what I was expecting but it ended up being quite refreshing.
DeleteSky in the Deep looks great, and so does an authentic Experience. That one's new for me, but looks great! Glad the storm didn't get too bad for you.
ReplyDeleteHave an awesome week!!
I'm excited to read Authentic Experience. It wasn't on my radar until the author emailed me, but it sounds like something I'll enjoy.
DeleteNothing Left to Burn looks really good. I have to read 3 of the 4 you read this week (yeah, I am reading March books), but I am glad you has positive things to say about all of them. Especially The Midnights because I saw some scathing reviews for that one, but you tend to like books I like, which makes me think I will like it too.
ReplyDeleteI hope you like the 3 your reading this week! I'm *almost* caught up on my March review books, and it feels so good lol I was actually worried about The Midnights at first because I'd seen a negative review too, but I ended up really liking it. It took me a while to warm up to the main character, but at the end of the day it was one of those quiet contemporary books I love.
DeleteStormy weather is always good for some reading. And with all those new amazing books too. There are a few that are new to me. I’ll have to check them out. :) Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely! There's nothing better than curling up with a good book on a bad day. :)
DeleteI have to check out The Midnights, it sounds like it would be good. I also have Sky in the Deep and look forward to reading it. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteThe Midnights is great, especially if you've enjoyed books by Sarah Dessen. It gave me This Lullaby feels the whole way through. I'm looking forward to starting Sky in the Deep as well. I'm trying to hold off until my March books are done, but I don't know if I'll last lol
DeleteOh you got some great review books!! I am just starting Love and Other Words today. We got that storm too and ugh. I am so over it even though I think we are getting another one this week!! Hope you have a lovely week ahead!
ReplyDeleteI'm over it too. The only good thing is it's melted fast.
DeleteThat storm was crazy! Hope the Gayle Forman is good - her last couple books haven't been the best fit for me.
ReplyDeleteJen Ryland Reviews
I haven't read anything by her since Just One Day but up until then I've loved her books. I remember picking up I Was There, though, and not getting into it before it was due back to the library. But I'm hoping I'll enjoy this.
DeleteThat storm was such a bear. We made out okay too, but we were definitely more fortunate than a lot of folks around us.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see what you think of the Gayle Forman book. That's on my wishlist too. And I forgot to add it to my Stacking the Shelves post but I also got Sky in the Deep, which just sounds amazing.
I'm saving the Gayle Forman book for my vacation next week. I'm hoping I'll like it. And yay for Sky in the Deep! It does look amazing. I never thought I'd get approved for it so it was such a great surprise.
DeleteI am glad to hear that your power stayed on during the storm. I am so ready for spring and nicer weather. I just got a copy of the new Gayle Forman book so I hope that is a really good one.
ReplyDeleteSo am I! My town's predicted to get another 6-10 inches on Wednesday now and it's just so soul crushing. I want warm weather already. Hope you enjoy Gayle's new book!
