You Are Not Here by Samantha Schutz
Annaleah and Brian had something special -- Annaleah is sure of it. When they were together, they didn't need anyone else. It didn't matter that it was secret. All that mattered was what they shared. When I'm bored, I have this tendency to look for new upcoming books to add to my TBR list, which is probably the reason it's so long. So when I heard about Scholastic's Fall 2010 Librarian Preview Web Cast from a post on Erin Bow's blog (Her editor had some really great things to say about her upcoming debut, Plain Kate, yet another reason why I'm dying to read her book!), I decided to watch it and try to spot any new books to pine for. And boy did I!!
And then, out of nowhere, Brian is killed in an accident. And while everyone else has their role in the grieving process, Annaleah finds herself living on the outside of it, unacknowledged and lonely. How can you recover from a loss no one will let you have?
One of them I heard about was You Are Not Here, which was the last book talked about. While it does have a very pretty cover and an intriguing premise, David Levithan was the one who officially sold me on this. You see, he's the editor of You Are Not Here, so he was one the one talking about it. And he ended up describing this one, as well as a bunch of others, in such a way that makes me just want to run out and buy it as soon as possible because it sounds like it's going to be such an AMAZING book, even if it does sound like one huge tear jerker, and one that may end in my favorites of '10 if it leaves up to my exceptions.
Therefore that is the very long reason why I want to read You Are Not Here. Hope I didn't bore you. ;)
You Are Not Here by Samantha Schutz will be released October 1, 2010, a little less than six months from now. Oh, what a wait. :(

ReplyDeleteAlso, that's not the final cover. The final one is even prettier! :)

I'm going through a similar thing. I'm looking for books that will take over my life for a bit the way Twilight or Hunger Games or City of Bones did. It's such a difficult search sometimes.
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of this one, but it sounds really good. It reminded me slightly of the Twenty Boy Summer summary - with the secret romance and everything.
ReplyDeleteCool!
This sounds really good! Every week you introduce me to a new book I've never heard of. The premise for this one reminds me A LOT of The Secret Year but still, I'm interested to see what this author does with it. :)
ReplyDeleteLooks interesting, though not really my cup of tea. My pick is here.
ReplyDeleteI am just like you when I have a minute that I am taking a second from a book I find myself looking for new books to add to the list. So therefore I usually add three or four for the one book that I finish. So ultimately I will never be able to dwindle this list.
ReplyDeleteThis one sounds good I am going to add it to mine, thanks!
This one sounds a lot like The Secret Year in reverse. Well, minus the diary, I guess. Okay, so not a lot like, but all I meant was that I really enjoyed that one, and this one looks up my alley too. Thanks for letting us know about it!
