It's one thing to learn to curtsy properly. It's quite another to learn to curtsy and throw a knife at the same time.Welcome to finishing school.
Fourteen-year-old Sophronia is the bane of her mother's existence. Sophronia is more interested in dismantling clocks and climbing trees than proper etiquette at tea--and god forbid anyone see her atrocious curtsy. Mrs. Temminnick is desperate for her daughter to become a proper lady. She enrolls Sophronia in Mademoiselle Geraldine's Finishing Academy for Young Ladies of Quality.
But little do Sophronia or her mother know that this is a school where ingenious young girls learn to finish, all right--but it's a different kind of finishing. Mademoiselle Geraldine's certainly trains young ladies in the finer arts of dance, dress, and etiquette, but also in the other kinds of finishing: the fine arts of death, diversion, deceit, espionage, and the modern weaponries. Sophronia and her friends are going to have a rousing first year at school.
The cover of this is what originally got me to look up this book, and after reading the summery, I think it will be the prefect book for me. I mean about a book about finishing school that teaches death, deceit, and espionage?! How cool is that?!
This will be released on February 13th 2013!

Since her release from Liberty Children's Facility, Anya Balanchine is determined to follow the straight and narrow. Unfortunately, her criminal record is making it hard for her to do that. No high school wants her with a gun possession charge on her rap sheet. Plus, all the people in her life have moved on: Natty has skipped two grades at Holy Trinity, Scarlet and Gable seem closer than ever, and even Win is in a new relationship. But when old friends return demanding that certain debts be paid, Anya is thrown right back into the criminal world that she had been determined to escape. It’s a journey that will take her across the ocean and straight into the heart of the birthplace of chocolate where her resolve--and her heart--will be tested as never before.
I absolutely loved last year's All These Things I've Done, the prequel to this, so it's no surprise that I'm DYING to read this one. Hopefully, it will be just as amazing as the first one!
This will be released September 18th 2012!

Etiquette and Espionage looks really really good. But seriously, 2013!? I can't wait that long. Anyway, great choice this week Lauren! :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Gail Carriger and this book looks fantastic! I'm also excited for Because It's In My Blood. I didn't love the first one, but I liked it more than I thought, because I really want to know what happens next!
ReplyDeleteNice picks. I didn't know that Because It Is My Blood had a cover yet. The Gail Carriger book looks really dope. I need to read her other series one of these days.
