Review: One Night to Fall by Kelsey Kingsley (Review & Giveaway!!)

Title: One Night to Fall
Author: Kelsey Kingsley
Genre: Contemporary Romance

About One Night to Fall:
Patrick Kinney wasn't a god. He was a parasite, and nobody worships a parasite.

Patrick Kinney was a glob of sticky, persistent peanut butter stuck to the roof of Kinsey McKenna's mouth, and she craved him.

In fact, she had been craving him ever since he set foot in River Canyon, Connecticut, when they were just three years old. And she hated it ever step of the way. (Well, sort of.)

But Patrick has a plan to fix it, and set the wrong things right. Can he turn it all around with one night and a sweet, but painful, trip down memory lane?

Fall in love again in this novella of firsts, second chances, and a little town on the coast of Connecticut, where everything meant everything.

Review:

After reading Kelsey Kingsley's debut novel Holly Freakin' Hughes, I could easily tell that Kelsey held a lot of promise in her writing and storytelling. As it turns out, I was one hundred precent correct (thankfully!).

To put it simply, One Night to Fall is unputadownable. I highly advise setting aside a good chunk of time when starting this because once you begin you won't be able to let go. It may've taken Patrick and Kinsey one night to fall, but it took me only one and a half hours to fall completely and utterly in love with their story.

One Night to Fall is a story of second chances, forgiveness, hope, and letting go physically as well as emotionally. It's hard to describe this novel in a way that gives it justice. Right now all I want to say is "READ THIS BOOK! NOT IN A MONTH, NOT IN A WEEK, NOW...THIS VERY MOMENT."

There's something so refreshingly "real" about Patrick and Kinsey. They're messy. They've made mistakes, taken paths they shouldn't have, and haven't said what they should have. They know it. They know they've done wrong, but they're set to make it right (especially in Patrick's case).

One Night to Fall is primarily told in Kinsey's POV consisting of flashbacks as well as current moments. I thought this was the perfect choice, as not only did it allow us to see Kinsey and Patrick in the moment, but it allowed us to see what started it all as well as the good and bad that their romance brought about over the years. Additionally, while novels taking place in one night are usually hit-or-miss, this was a complete hit in this case. Kelsey did such an amazing job of developing the plot and the voices, and honestly, if this hadn't taken place in just one night, it wouldn't have been nearly as amazing.

In all, I could go on about this book all day, but I won't. Instead, I'll leave you with this:

One Night to Fall is heart wrenching yet heartwarming.

It will make you smile - the kind of smile that brightens your whole entire face.
It will make you laugh - the big chuckle kind of laugh, one that comes strictly from the gut.
It will make you angry because let's face it: Patrick and Kinsey do some pretty silly things.
But overall it will make you fall hard.

I can't wait to see where Kelsey takes us next in this series.

Grade: A+

About Kelsey Kingsley:
Kelsey Kingsley grew up in the great state of New York, and still lives there with her family and a cat named Ethel. When she isn’t writing her fingers to the bone, she enjoys a good (or bad) book, reruns of Frasier, ruining the lives of her Sims, and singing and dancing in the kitchen. She somehow survives off a diet of tea, doughnuts, and French fries. However, she hates cheese and listening to people chew. You’ve been warned.
