Review: The Host by Stephine Meyer

The world now is a better place, a world without violence and crimes to harm people. You may be wondering how could this every happen. Well, it happened when alien creatures, which are described as being a green, 3-inch worm, invaded earth. These forms where placed in a host, the humans. Therefore, as this species was put in their brain, humans lost their bodies and free speech. Though even in this peaceful new world, a human resistance would poison them as long as they never gave away their friends.

Therefore, in enters Wanderer a new soul coming to earth trying to get the human way of things. Wanderer is placed in Melanie Styder, who was part of the few humans left. Melanie is still very active in Wanderer head telling her story's she does not want to hear. However, Wanderer is pulled into Melanie life when she talks of her younger brother, Jamie and the man she loved, Jared. Some think this is bad. Therefore, they want Wander to go to a new body before she is hooked in the human’s life, leaving the human host to take over the body. Wanderer will not let this happen, though she is tempted at the idea of not having Melanie in her head anymore. Therefore, Wanderer is left to find the humans Melanie loves. Moreover, as Wander gets hooked into the humans lives, she begins to think this is where she is meant to be.

When I began to start this review, I did not know how to explain this book without giving away too much or too little. Good books with a substance are hard to find these days but this book met this and went higher. This book was, in my opinion, better than the Twilight series and shows Stephine Meyer's talent to be one of the best storytellers of our time. (Edit to add: Ew, what did I ever say that... :/) When I finished this book, I wanted this book not to end. Now, I hope there is a sequel with Wanderer and Melanie lives continuing.

The Host (Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Goodreads) is now out!

  1. I wouldn't necessarily call Stephenie Meyer one of the best storytellers of our times, haha, but she's certainly got her talent for making people fall head over heels in love with her stuff.
