Strange Angels by Lili St. Crow

Summary:

Dru Anderson has what her grandmother called “the touch.” (Comes in handy when you’re traveling from town to town with your dad, hunting ghosts, suckers, wulfen, and the occasional zombie.)

Then her dad turns up dead—but still walking—and Dru knows she’s next. Even worse, she’s got two guys hungry for her affections, and they’re not about to let the fiercely independent Dru go it alone. Will Dru discover just how special she really is before coming face-to-fang with whatever—or whoever— is hunting her? (from Amazon)

Review:

Strange Angels was a thrilling start to a new urban fantasy series by Lili St. Crow.

At first, I wasn't a big fan of Dru and I'm not completely sure why. Maybe because of her contestant moaning over her dad not coming home or how she was so mean to Graves in the beginning. Though, as the novel progressed I came in awe of her humor and witty comebacks to how she would do anything to keep Graves and Christophe safe. My favorite character though was probably the sweet and sensitive Graves, as I'm sure yours will be too.

The plot was something new and one that I was glad to see. It was interesting finding out about the wolfen, suckers, and zombies to how the night world worked. I look forward to seeing how Lili will progress with this world in upcoming books. Also, I loved the fighting/ kicking butt part of this novel because it brought suspense to Strange Angels.

My only problem? Well at times Strange Angels got a little too wordy leaving me to become disinterested every once in a while. Also, I felt that with this fault, it left for the novel to become a bit confusing.

Overall, Strange Angels is definitely a novel that I suggest to fans of the Vampire Academy series who are looking for a great new read. I look forward to reading the second novel, Betrayals, which comes out November 2009.

Grade: B

Strange Angels is now out everywhere.

* Much thanks to JL at Penguin for sending me this lovely book! :)
