Sisters Red by Jackson Pearce

Yes,  I know this is a bit early, but I couldn't help but to post my review. Since this book was incredible. Expect a reminder in June of it's release.

Summary from Amazon:

Scarlet March lives to hunt the Fenris--the werewolves that took her eye when she was defending her sister Rosie from a brutal attack. Armed with a razor-sharp hatchet and blood-red cloak, Scarlett is an expert at luring and slaying the wolves. She's determined to protect other young girls from a grisly death, and her raging heart will not rest until every single wolf is dead.

Rosie March once felt her bond with her sister was unbreakable. Owing Scarlett her life, Rosie hunts ferociously alongside her. But even as more girls' bodies pile up in the city and the Fenris seem to be gaining power, Rosie dreams of a life beyond the wolves. She finds herself drawn to Silas, a young woodsman who is deadly with an ax and Scarlett's only friend--but does loving him mean betraying her sister and all that they've worked for?

Review:

After adoring Jackson’s debut novel As You Wish, I was nothing short of ecstatic to read more by this promising and talented new author. Though when I heard that Sisters Red was going to be a fairytale retelling I was a bit skeptical; since fairy tale retellings can either be one of two things, jaw-droopingly amazing or a complete bore. Luckily, Sisters Red was the former, but can I really except anything less than marvelous when it comes to Pearce's books?

Sisters Red was an enticing, beautifully written, and tantalizing book that chronicled the fate of Rosie and Scarlet, the two March sisters, as they each dealt with forbidden romances, past demons, and Fenris hunting, of course.

Before the Fenris attack Rosie and Scarlet thought they shared a heart, and while both still want to have faith in that thought, they do have admit that they are drifting apart. Scarlet, on one hand, has always known her purpose in life was to fight the Fenris after she got the rude awakening to the thought when she was only a young child. So, in turn, over the years she's poured her heart and life into fighting those nasty beasts, letting nothing to get in the way of the fight. While Rosie knows she owes her life to her sister, she can't supress the feeling of missing something any longer, and when a young and handsome woodsman named Silas comes in the picture, she begins to realize what that missing item may be. Though, will she go far enough to risk her already shake relationship with her sister to have a forbidden romance? Time will only tell.

As you can imagine, these characters were nothing but intriguing, leaving me to love that they were the narrators of this story. Adding to this, both were wonderfully developed. To a point even where you could feel their story jump of the page and take hold of you and your feelings as you went along with them in their fast paced journey.

The plot and premise while based on Little Red Riding Hood, fully stood on it's own from the start; going so far as to add new characteristics to this story such as the fact that the wolves hunt young, attractive girls to the fact they are each in their own pack.

And tie Jackson's writing together with the characters and plot, you got yourself a beautifully written and compelling story that you simply can't help but to love as you rush through the pages, dying to know what happens next. To prove that fact, I actually finished Sisters Red in one night since even though all I wanted to do was savor this read, my want to find out the conclusion to this fantastic tale overrode the former feeling.

In all, Sisters Red truly shines in a way that most books can't. Leaving me to highly suggest you take the chance and buy a copy once it's released because I ensure you that you won't regret it for a second once you you begin reading it.

Grade: A+
