Once Upon a Read-a-Thon Update (Books & Challenges)

As I said in Sunday's In My Mailbox, I'm participating in the Once Upon a Read-a-Thon, one of my favorite read-a-thons, from July 11 to July 13. It's the perfect ways to alleviate the mess of a TBR pile I have and to have even more of a reason to read. Anyhow, I decided I should do an update, so here it is...

Amazing, Amazing, Amazing!
Books I've Read So Far:

Linger by Maggie Stiefvater (360 pages of some of beautiful and poetic writing! I really enjoyed this one, and the ending? Crazy!)
Populazzi by Elise Allen (390 pages of pure fun- I laughed, I cringed, I even teared up in some places, which makes this book a total win in my book!)

Books I'm Currently Reading:

Who knew The Girl in the Steel Corset
would be such a challenge to read? ;)
The Girl in the Steel Corset by Kady Cross (I have to admit that even though I've been really looking forward to this one, I was a bit hesitant to read it at the same time as I've never read a steampunk before, but this one is fabulous so far! Makes me wish I read it sooner!)
Forever by Maggie Stiefvater
Shift by Jeri Smith-Ready (Sequel to one of my favorite books- Shade!)

Other Books I'm Hoping to Get Finished, or even Started:

Stupid Fast by Geoff Herbach
Anya's Ghost by Vera Brosgol
What We Keep Is Not Always What Will Stay by Amanda Cockrell

Challenges I've Done:

The Musings of Almybnenr: In this challenge a dozen book covers where cropped and you had to figure out which one was which. It was hard (especially the one where I searched and searched and searched) but really fun at the same time. Hopefully I got them right. :)
YA Bliss: In this one Sab asked for participants to pick their top three (well done) love triangles so here are my picks (which are in no particular order):

1) Conrad vs. Jeremiah in Jenny Han's Summer series: Okay, I kind of feel like I'm stealing this one from Sab, as she included it in her post, but I wholeheartedly think that this is one of the better love triangles out there. I never knew exactly who Belly was going to end up with- let alone which one I would pick if I was her. I mean, both boys were amazing in there own ways and sweet and cute and... you know what I'm saying.
2) Brian vs. Hunter in Jessica Brody's My Life Undecided: This was another one where I never knew who the main character (this time it was Brooklyn) was going to end up with. Both guys were sweet and amazing as well as good (and possibly bad) for Brooklyn in different ways.
3) Ash vs. Puck in Julie Kagawa's The Iron Fey series: Yet another one where both guys were fabulous. Ash was aloof yet filled with lots of heart (especially when it came to Meghan) while Puck was goofy and funny.

So that's it for now... If you would like more updates of my progress, follow me on twitter and check back here for a wrap-up post on Thursday!

Oh, and are you participating in the Once Upon a Read-a-Thon? If so, how are you doing so far? Read any good books? I would love to know! :)

  1. You picked some wonderful readathon books! I have The Girl in the Steel Corset in my lineup too (LOVE some good Steampunk)with 3 more books to go before I get to it, so I'd better get snappy! I could NOT figure out the covers for the cover challenge - the most I got were the three I originally figured out when I looked at them - I hope you got them all! Keep reading and having fun!

  2. Great book choices!

I read Me Penelope by Lisa Jahn-Clough (not so good) and So Shelly by Ty Roth (very good) yesterday. I didn't think I'd get through 2 whole books in one sitting but I powered through.

Today I'm reading The Taker by J.M. Steele and probably Fury by Elizabeth Miles.
