Review: Timekeeper by Alexandra Monir

Summary/Cover Image from Publisher's Website:
This sequel to Timeless combines breathtaking romance with a tale of complex magic in a story that will have every reader believing in the transcendent power of love.

When Philip Walker appears as a new student in Michele Windsor's high school class, she is floored. He is the love she thought she lost forever when they said goodbye during her time travels last century. Overjoyed that they can resume the relationship they had a lifetime ago, Michele eagerly approaches him and discovers the unthinkable: he doesn't remember her. In fact, he doesn't seem to remember anything about the Philip Walker of 1910.

Michele then finds her father's journals, which tell stories of his time-traveling past. As she digs deeper, she learns about his entanglement with a mysterious and powerful organization called the Time Society and his dealings with a vengeful Windsor ancestor. Michele soon finds herself at the center of a rift over 120 years in the making, one whose resolution will have life-or-death consequences.
Review:

Ever since I read Timeless last summer, I've been dying to get my hands on the sequel. Therefore, when Timekeeper wound up in my mailbox a few weeks, I knew I had to read it right away. Thankfully, Timekeeper by Alexandra Monir was just as dashing, romantic, and suspenseful as the first one.

Timekeeper picks up just where the last one left off with Michelle spotting a Phillip look-a-like and promptly fainting from the surprise and confusion of it all. However, as Michelle is soon to learn she has more than just that, because as she is soon to find out: someone's on the hunt to ruin everything she has, and they aren't going to go down easily. Scared for her life as well as her family and friends, Michelle begins the hunt to find out just how to stop this, but the problem is she only has SEVEN days. What will happen next? Will Michelle figure it out, or will everything be lost? In addition, what's the deal with the new Phillip Walker? Only time and more pages can tell in this fast paced and compelling sequel that will sweep readers into the same kind of time travel and fun as before!

One of the things I enjoyed most about this one was the plot. Time travel is such a fun topic, in my idea, and knowing how well Alexandra worked with it last time, I had no doubt Timekeeper would keep up with the same degree of goodness. I was exactly right. I loved how easily Alexandra swept between time periods, making me feel as if I was right there with Michelle, as well as how she laced everything together perfectly. In addition, I specifically enjoyed how Alexandra added in Michelle's dad journal to the plot as well as the Timekeeper handbook. Both added a lot to the plot content wise as well as depth wise, and truly, I couldn't think of a better way in which she could have developed both aspects. It gave a richer feel than just having everything hashed out in between a few dialogues tags, and once again, she was able to blend it all together beautifully.

Another part of this book I enjoyed were the characters. Michelle was such a great protagonist in the first one, and the same rang true in this one. One thing that I loved most about Michelle's character was how strong and dauntless she way. Any other teen probably would have ran away at the situation Michelle was facing, but Michelle stood strong and took it all on. In addition, I loved seeing her friendships continue as well as her every budding relationship with the new Phillip Walker as well as the old one. A lot of fun twists where thrown into that plot line...let me tell you. The addition of the antagonist in this one was also great. They were surly and mean and never failed to complicate things for Michelle, but it added a lot of exciting things to the book.

In all, Timekeeper by Alexandra Monir was a great conclusion to the story of Michelle and Phillip as well as their friends and family. I'm sad that's it to be over, but truthfully, I couldn't have gotten a better ending!
