Books Read this Week:

Far From the Tree by Robin Benway: Finally read this! I thought it was very good. I appreciated how Robin presented three different types of adoption/foster care situations, and I liked the siblings and the bond that formed between them. However, there was something missing, in my opinion. Yes, I liked it, and yes, it was a 4-star read, but there was something holding be back from loving it as much as everyone else.

I Stop Somewhere  by T.E. Carter: I was so not emotionally prepared for this book! I knew it was going to be sad from the synopsis, but I never imagined it would be as heartbreaking as it was. I don't think I've ever cried as much during a book as with this one; however, even with the tears, this is such an important read! Seriously, add it to your TBRs, especially if you love gritty, emotional, Courtney Summers-like contemporary!

The Dating Debate (Dating Dilemmas, #1) by Chris Cannon: Very cute and quirky! I don't think this will be for everyone, as it's very dialogue/character based; however, I enjoyed it a lot. The banter between the two MCs was adorable AND they were both super bookish!

You Will Be Mine by Natasha Preston: This is a Valentine's murder mystery, so truly I couldn't have read this at a better time. It was interesting as well as suspenseful; however, the writing and character development left something to be desired.

New in my Reading/Blogging/Personal Life:

It was a busy week, but it went by quickly at least. The majority of the week was spent on getting acclimated to my new classes/TA assignment, which left little time for reading :( However, I did sneak in some good ones. (Seriously, add I Stop Somewhere to your TBR!!) I also continued my Monk binge-watching. I seriously can't get enough of this show. I wish it was still on :(

Have a great week!

  3. Wow! You're a TA, in school full-time, and read 4 books. You're awesome! Your comments on The Dating Debate were interesting, because I read one scathing review, about how the reviewer felt nothing happened in the book. Maybe it was that there is a lot of dialogue, but I am character driven reader, so it didn't even really register with me. I thought it was very sweet, and that West's mom's issue was dealt with in a sensitive manner. Entangled romances are always good for me - low drama, low angst, sweet romance.

  4. I have added a bunch of books this week. I post daily free ebooks. I am currently reading Dead Lemon by Finn Bell a thriller and I really like it. Looks like a great lot this week! I want to read Stop Somewhere. I hope you enjoy them all!

  5. Ooooh You Will Be Mine looks good! Can't wait for your review and your thoughts - hopefully the writing and characters didn't completely ruin the book....? It just looks like such a great story!

I've never heard of Monk. I better look it up. I'm always in the mood for a new series binge ;) Although I admit F.R.I.E.N.D.S is keeping me pretty occupied these days!

Have a wonderful week, Lauren :)
