Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead

Summary:

Lissa Dragomir is a Moroi princess: a mortal vampire with an unbreakable bond to the earth's magic. She must be protected at all times from Strigoi; the fiercest and most dangerous vampires--the ones who never die.

The powerful blend of human and vampire blood that flows through Rose Hathaway, Lissa's best friend, makes her a Dhampir; she is dedicated to a dangerous life of protecting Lissa from the Strigoi, who are hell-bent on making her one of them.

After two years of illicit freedom, Rose and Lissa are caught and dragged back to St. Vladimir's Academy, hidden in the deep forests of Montana. Rose will continue her Dhampir education. Lissa will go back to being Queen of the elite Moroi social scene. And both girls will resume breaking hearts.

Fear made Lissa and Rose run away from St. Vladimir's--but their world is fraught with danger both inside and out of the Academy's iron gates. Here, the cutthroat ranks of the Moroi perform unspeakable rituals and their secretive nature and love of the night creates an enigmatic world full of social complexities. Rose and Lissa must navigate through this dangerous world, confront the temptation of forbidden romance, and never once let their guard down, lest the Strigoi make Lissa one of them forever...

Review:
I'm usually never a big fan of vampires- with the exception of Evernight and the Twilight Saga-, but lately I have been loving books like this more than any other genre. Vampire Academy is no exception.

Vampire Academy had mystery, romance, and a plot filled with many twists and curves that were never predictable. Richelle created characters in which you could relate to. Such, as Lissa the girl who is as her peers think - perfect. Yet, Lissa never she lives up to the hype making her feel imperfect most of the time. Than there's Rose- my favorite character- who's the wise cracking part of the story. Her character made me laugh out loud many times , because of the things she would say and do. Also, I truly admired the unbreakable friendship between Lissa and Rose that. One that lets either one of them stand up for the other even when they are harming themselves. Another thing I enjoyed reading about was the world that Richelle Mead created. Since, I got see who and what the history of the Moroi, Strigoi, and Dhampir was. Though, sometimes it could get a little bit confusing because the pieces of history were often put out in big lumps. I think Richelle is a excellent writer because she fit the whole high school experience -crushes, parties, and drama- in the complicated world that the Moroi and Dhampir lived in. The only problems I had with this book was when it ended and the one stated above.

Vampire Academy is now in the running to be my favorite vampire series ever ,because it provided a thrilling journey that is leaving me to wish that Richelle will never stop putting these books out. I can't wait to read the next two in the series- Frostbite and Shadow Kiss.
