Blog Tour: Angels of the Knights- Fallon by Valerie Zambito

Summary/Cover Image from Goodreads:
When Fallon Angell died at the age of sixteen, her life changed forever.

The hallowed world of Emperica is everything she had ever hoped for as a mortal—immeasurable beauty, unconditional love and light. But, with affection for humankind still burning within her, she joins the Knight Caste to train as an angel warrior. As a Knight, she will give up her wings and return to the place that killed her to use her unique powers to search out and destroy the evil Kjin that roam the earth. As a Knight, she will stop at nothing to protect the mortals in her care.

The elders warn her that the path she chose will be a solitary one. That she will not have the same bond with humans as she once did. But, as far as she knows, the elders had never met Kade Royce.

When her duties place her in the path of this handsome former cop, emotions buried long ago rise to the surface and she is powerless to ignore the depth of her feelings for this young man. She knows instinctively that she has found what most people search their entire lives for.

Ignoring the risks, she invites him into her world of danger, but soon their lives collide with explosive consequence. As a result, Fallon realizes with heartbreaking despair that she can no longer hide from the painful truth. In order for Kade to live, she must destroy him.
Review:

When I was first offered the chance to be part of the blog tour for Angels of the Knights-Fallon, I jumped at the chance, because I'm always up for a new angel themed paranormal. Thankfully, the overall story was interesting as well as beguiling. However, I did have a few tiny problems with it.

Let's start with the characters. From the first page, I was enchanted by Fallon's story. I couldn't wait to find out more about her life as a Knight (aka angel warrior). Her back story was sad yet it added a great emotional factor to her desire to be the best Knight out there. What I liked most about Fallon, though, was how dauntless and tough she was. She was always putting herself at risk to save the lives of others, and that said a lot about her character. However, Kade, the main love interest, changed that for the better. Kade was sweet, and I loved seeing more about him as the book continued. I will admit his development as a character was a little shaky, but besides that, I thought Valerie did a decent of enough job of presenting him.

The plot in this was the best part of the book. I loved the idea of Knights and Emperica. It was an interesting take on Heaven and Angels. Plus it allowed the book to move at a rapid speed, as the life of a Knight was never slow or dull. I did have a few tiny problems with it, though. For one, I would have loved some more development and build up to the whole Emperica and Knight world. I felt that it was thrown in my face all at once, rather than having a steady, slow buildup. Plus, I felt that Kade and Fallon's romance was a little sudden. I'm all at love at first sight, but sometimes, I do enjoy a little build up to it all.

Valerie's writing was overly decent. I thought she did a good job with the premise.

In all, even with its problems, Angels of the Knights is still a promising debut. It's not my favorite, but it's definitely something I enjoyed reading and would suggest to angel fans!
