My pick this week is:
Things I'm Seeing Without You by Peter Bognanni
Teen and adult fans of Thirteen Reasons Why and I’ll Give You the Sun should get ready to laugh and cry (often at the same time) over this heartbreaking and life-affirming novel about love after the most profound loss.Reasons Why I Want to Read This:
Seventeen-year-old Tess Fowler has just dropped out of high school. She can barely function after learning of Jonah’s death. Jonah, the boy she’d traded banter with over texts and heartfelt e-mails. Jonah, the first boy she’d told she loved and the first boy to say it back.
Jonah, the boy whose suicide she never saw coming.
Tess continues to write to Jonah, working her way through her grief and confusion. But for now she seeks refuge in perhaps the unlikeliest of places: her father’s house. He’s currently in the process of launching a customized funeral business, and his first client is a beloved…pet Borzoi?
As her involvement in her father’s business grows, both find solace in the clients they serve and in each other. But love, loss, and life are so much more complicated than Tess ever thought—especially after Tess receives a message that turns her life upside down.
Funny, heartbreaking, hopeful, and wondrous, Things I’m Seeing Without You is a beautiful examination of what it means to love someone—and what it means to truly know them.
- I LOVED Peter's first book, The House of Tomorrow. If you haven't read this one, you should!
- I love blue and white colors...I find them soothing... so this cover is an A+ in my book.
- I like how it involves a funeral home. I feel like that's going to cause some laughs and tears.
- The whole internet boyfriend plot is sometimes hard to do - I'm curious to see how Peter pulls it off!
