Contest for THREE SIGEND copies of Dedication by Emma McLaughlin and Nicola Kraus

Thanks to the lovely DG, I have THREE SIGEND copies of Dedication, an amazing book, by Emma McLaughlin and Nicola Kraus.

Here's the summary from Barnes and Noble.

Kate Hollis’s ex-boyfriend’s face plasters newsstands and TV, the Internet, and the multiplex. Jake Sharpe is one of the biggest recording stars on the planet, and every song he’s famous for is about Kate. For over a decade his soundtrack has chased her - from the gym to the supermarket, from the dentist’s office to the bars. Now thirty-year-old Kate gets the call that Jake has finally landed back in their Vermont hometown for an MTV special. The moment she has been waiting for has arrived.

On the eve of their prom, Jake Sharpe vanished, resurfacing when his song “Losing” - about his and Kate’s first sexual experience - shot to the top of the Billboard charts. And the hits kept coming, each more personal than the one before.

Now Kate gets her chance to confront Jake and reclaim her past. But after eleven years of enduring protracted and far-from-private heartbreak, everyone in Kate’s life has a stake in how this plays out. Kate must risk betraying the friends Jake abandoned, the bandmates whose songs he plundered, and her own parents, who fear this will dredge up a shared past more painful than any of them want to acknowledge. But after getting the call in the dead of night and jumping on a plane, can she turn back now?
Newsweek dubbed The Nanny Diaries “a national phenomenon” and the New Republic proclaimed, “Thank God for Citizen Girl.” Now McLaughlin and Kraus have written a poignant, humorous tale about modern celebrity obsession and coming of age during the divorce boom. With flawless depictions of the 1980s, a charismatic heroine, and their signature biting wit, the authors offer upanother lively and hilarious tale of a smart young woman looking for satisfaction in the chaos of contemporary culture.
To enter, please fill out the form below. This contest is open to US ONLY and will close on March 2nd! So be sure to enter pronto. :)

The Lonely Hearts Club Blog Tour and Contest for One $150 VISA Gift Card!!

Today, I have a very special guest. Who is it, you may ask? Well, it's an author who goes by the name Elizabeth Eulberg! She's the author of an amazing book titled The Lonely Hearts Club (My Review!), and is here today to not only blog about friendship, but to also giveaway ONE $150 VISA GIFT CARD FOR YOUR OWN GIRLS NIGHT OUT which I personally think is one of the best giveaways featured on my blog so far.

~~

As The Beatles once said, “I get by with a little help from my friends.” As I have often been reminded in my life, having great and reliable friends is extremely important. While friends are important to have in your life for all those fun times, they are especially valuable when things aren’t going well in your life.

There are many times I’ve needed a shoulder to cry on during a break-up or particular stressful time. These are the friends you know will have your back no matter what. I’m very fortunate to have a lot of wonderful friends and a great support system. And I learned what a fabulous group of friends I had when I didn’t have use of one of my arms…

Not to gross anybody out, but my left shoulder would routinely dislocate. It wasn’t because I was playing sports or doing anything athletic. Nope. My shoulder would pop out when I’d reach for something or you know, put my purse on a counter. This was not normal. After screaming and speaking in foreign tongues for several minutes, I would put my shoulder back in its socket (yep, I’m one tough cookie) and go on with my day. Finally, after a particular bad dislocation, I was told that I had to have surgery to fix it. I would have my arm in a sling for six weeks and need physical therapy for six months. Oh and after my surgery, I wouldn’t be able to use my left arm for about 48 hours.

I’m a pretty independent person, so I thought, “No problem, I can handle this.” But after talking to a couple people who have gone through the surgery, it quickly became apparent that I couldn’t handle it. I needed help. And I knew exactly whom I could count on.

My friend Jen (who I named a character in The Lonely Hearts Club after) went with me to the hospital at five in the morning the day of my surgery. She was the first person I saw when I woke up. She also bullied the nurses into letting me take my painkillers earlier than they thought I needed them (I still remember hearing her say, “I don’t care if you think she shouldn’t be feeling pain, she is, so somebody better get me some water for her pills!”). She also hunted down our missing car driver while I was extremely drugged up waiting in the lobby.

Jen got me home and took care of me during the day. Then my friend Kathy came over for the night shift. Her husband also stopped by to set up my apartment with wireless internet so I’d be able to work on my laptop from bed. Jen and Kathy rotated for the first 48 hours, making sure I was eating, taking my pills and getting rest. There was also a lot of American Idol and Golden Girls watching…

The next few days were a parade of friends coming over with food. And the very important task of ponytail duty. I couldn’t lift my left arm at all and you need two arms to put your hair in a ponytail. And when you are drugged up, sore, and tired, the last thing you want to deal with is hair in your face. So it became a ritual, before anybody left, they’d have to re-do my hair. Wow, in writing that I sound like such a diva, “You there! Come over here and do my hair!”

My friend Tara, who I have known since I was three, picked me up and took me to stay at her house over the weekend. Her husband was out of town, so I hung out with her and her 8-month-old son Jack. Her son is adorable and I will freely admit that I was a way bigger baby and fussier than Jack was that weekend. I also took more naps…

Looking back on this time it should’ve been an all around miserable experience. However, I got something priceless. I didn’t just get by with a little help from my friends; I got love and support when I needed it the most.

~~

What a great story! Thanks Elizabeth!

Contest for THREE copies of The Lonely Hearts Club by Elizabeth Eulberg!!!

Looking for a great new read? Well look no further because I have three brand new copies of The Lonely Hearts Club by Elizabeth Eulberg to giveaway thanks to Chelsy!

Here's the summary:

I, Penny Lane Bloom, do solemnly swear to never date another boy for as long as I shall live. All right, maybe I’ll reconsider it in ten years or so when I’m no longer living in Parkview, Illinois, or attending McKinley High School, but for now I’m done with guys.

They’re all lying, cheating scum of the earth.Yes, every last one of them. Pure evil.

Sure, there are some that seem nice, but the second they get what they want, they’ll dump you and move onto their next target.

So I’m done.

No more dating.

The end.

Love is all you need…or is it?

Penny is sick of boys and sick of dating, so she vows: No more. She’s had one too many bad dates, and has been hurt by one too many bad boys. It’s a personal choice…and soon everybody wants to know about it. It seems that Penny’s not the only girl who’s tired of the way girls change themselves (most of the time for the worse) in order to get their guys…or the way their guys don’t really care about them.

Girls are soon thronging to The Lonely Hearts Club (named after Sgt. Pepper’s band), and Penny finds herself near legendary for her non-dating ways – which is too bad, since the leader of The Lonely Hearts Club has found a certain boy she can’t help but like…

The form is self explanatory. Though, this contest is open to US ONLY  and will close on January 26th!

Grace Divine, daughter of the local pastor, always knew something terrible happened the night Daniel Kalbi disappeared—the night she found her brother Jude collapsed on the porch, covered in blood. But she has no idea what a truly monstrous secret that night really held. And when Daniel returns three years later, Grace can no longer deny her attraction to him, despite promising Jude she’ll stay away.

As Grace gets closer to Daniel, her actions stir the ancient evil Daniel unleashed that horrific night. Grace must discover the truth behind Jude and Daniel's dark secret . . . and the cure that can save the ones she loves. But she may have to lay down the ultimate sacrifice to do it—her soul.

Contest for Five Minutes More and Responsible or Saving Grace and Rules for Life

Thanks to Darlene Ryan I have two awesome prize packs to give to two lucky winners!

Prize pack #1 will included the following books along with some other goodies:

Five More Minutes More

“I play the Five Minutes More game. Five minutes. I can stand anything for five minutes. Even my father being dead.”
D’Arcy desperately wants her father’s death to have been an accident. Then she learns the truth. Why would her father choose suicide? Why didn’t she see the signs? How will she manage alone? Then D’Arcy becomes friends with Seth. Now will things get back to normal or will she have to call on strengths she didn’t know she had to make a new kind of normal, five minutes at a time?

 Responsible

"Teachers, for the most part, don’t know anything about real life. If they did they’d have much better jobs than teaching geometry and the history of the stupid middle ages to a bunch of kids who aren’t listening anyway.”

Kevin Frasier is in a new high school—his fourth so far. When he falls in with Nick and his friends, Kevin ends up going along as they bully and threaten their way through the school. Then Nick starts tormenting Erin. When she stands up to him the harassment takes a dangerous turn and Kevin is forced to be responsible for his choices.

Prize Pack #2 will include the following books along with some other goodies:

Saving Grace

“I looked over toward the counter and saw a police officer standing there with his back to me. I couldn’t breathe and my feet seemed to be stuck to the ground."
Fifteen year-old Evie has kidnapped the child her father made her give up for adoption. On the run with her reluctant boyfriend and a sick baby, Evie struggles to figure out what being a mother really means.

Rules For Life
Rules # 41: If it’s dirty, wash it. If it’s hungry, feed it. If it’s broke, it’s Jason.
Izzy’s mother had a rule for every circumstance, and since her death Izzy has used those rules to get by. But now her dad is planning to get married—to a woman Izzy barely knows, her friend, Mrs. Mac, is sneaking contraband sausage and her big brother Jason is…well, being Jason. As Izzy tries to fix things she discovers that sometimes you have to make up the rules as you go along.
A touching, often funny story of love an acceptance, Rules for Life is a reminder that while we can’t choose the family we were born with, we can choose the people we take along for the ride.

Thanks to L.M. and her awesome publisher, I have a copy of Explorer X- Alpha to giveaway to one lucky person!

Here's the summary:

For most kids, a trip to space camp is a trip of a lifetime, for Aadi it was life altering. After receiving a camp immunization needed for travel to Mars, Aadi finds that the immunization is the catalyst of an insidious experiment. Lucky for him, he was engineered to survive, thrive, and dominate. Without realizing he is being trained to conquer worlds, and manipulated under the guise of a camp, he unfolds the plot too late for a change of fate. Aadi’s world is shaken upon the revelation that life before camp was not what it appeared. This solidifies his plan to save them all from the company that seeks to control him, only for his rescue to end abruptly due to a freak accident on a field trip to Mars. The full experiment is set in motion when he and his co-pilot, Eirena, crash in a distant galaxy called Shrenas, where they change and realize the full extent of their power. Holding onto his humanity, in the midst of turning into a god is Aadi's biggest battle yet. This turn of events causes him to put his childish thoughts away, forcing him to accept his change, and to decide to save a world, or to do what he was trained to do, dominate it. In the midst his struggles with his changes, his power is coveted by the warring leaders of Shrenas, and he is forced to choose sides to save a life, or to save himself. A decision that may prove just how much humanity he has left.
