Waiting on Wednesday (124)

Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine.

While He Was Away by Karen Schreck
“This is just something I have to do, okay?” I hear David say. “The right thing.”

He cradles my face in his hands. He kisses me hard. Then he lets go of me. His eyes dart from me to whatever’s next.

When Penna Weaver’s boyfriend goes off to Iraq, she’s left facing life without him. As summer sets in, Penna tries to distract herself with work and her art, but the not knowing is slowly driving her crazy. Especially when David stops writing. She knows in her heart he will come home— but will he be the same boy she fell in love with?
Katie from Katie's Book Blog (Her blog is awesome!) recently tweeted about this one, and as soon as I saw the summary and cover for it, I added it to my wishlist. It looks so good! Plus it's contemporary.

The Summer of No Regrets by Katherine Grace Bond
Is he or isn't he? Brigitta's best friend is convinced that Brigitta's new crush, Luke, is actually egotistical teen heartthrob Trent Yves, hiding from his fans in their tiny town. But Brigitta actually likes Luke, whereas Trent is an arrogant jerk. As the two spend the summer together raising orphaned cougar cubs, Brigitta still can't be sure of his true identity. But then again, since her grandparents' death, her father's sudden urge to give away all their possessions and become a shaman, and her own awkward transition from girlhood into a young woman, what can she be sure of?
Another cute and fun looking summer read from Sourcebooks! This one sounds equally great- almost like a take off of Teen Idol by Meg Cabot, which I loved! Can't wait to check this one out.

On a side note: is it just me or do the models on both books seem to be the same people?

Either way, what books are you looking forward to this Wednesday? Either of the ones I listed above? Let me know in the comments, and feel free to link to your WOW post!

  3. Those both do look good! And as long as we're making jokey cover comments, he's gonna have a heck of a time fitting the big ole bag on his bike.
