New in my Reading/Blogging/Personal Life:
Another busy week here! Between classes, TA responsibilities, and general grad school stuff, I was go, go, go all week. Thankfully, we week "ended" on Friday at 11 am, so I've gotten some much needed r&r. Between the business, I was able to finish some books - Speak Easy, Speak Love and The Both Die at the End. Both were EXCELLENT! Speak Easy, Speak Love perfectly captured the "feels" of the prohibition time period, and I loved that so many view points were represented - the life speakeasy, the life of a bootlegger, the life of a jazz singer, and the life of a woman with so many new freedoms. It was just an amazing book, and I can't wait to talk about it more in my review! They Both Die at the End, well, it made my heart die at the end. Such an incredibly sad book; however, I still 100% recommend it! As others have said, it's a celebration of life, and taking those risks and chances that make your life worth living.
Other than that, that's about all here! I'm super excited about the books I got this week. Especially for The Wife Between Us! The buzz has been incredible so far, and I love me some Sarah Pekkanen.
Follow my Adventures:
Sounds like you got some great books finished despite the busy week!
ReplyDeleteI need to read more Cindi Madsen - I'll have to check out Cinderella Screwed Me Over
Happy Reading!
This will actually be my first book by Cindi! I've been meaning to read her books forever but I just haven't gotten around to it.
DeleteWow, nice books you got here, Lauren. I hope you enjoy them all. I'm curious about "The Wife Between Us." Sounds forbidden. Oh the angst!! :)
ReplyDeleteIt does definitely sound forbidden!! I'm really hoping it's as good as it looks!
DeleteYay, I am looking forward to your thoughts on Speak Easy, Speak Love. I loved it! Enjoy all your new books. Have a fantastic week.
ReplyDeleteYay, I'm so glad you loved it as well! I'm already planning to buy a copy so I can re-read it lol :)
DeleteOh, nice haul this week. I am curious about Cold Malice this week. Have a good one!
ReplyDeleteCold Malice was really good! If you love romantic suspense novels and/or shows like Criminal Minds, I feel like you'd have a strong chance of loving it.
DeleteThis time of year seems like it is really busy for a lot of people. I grabbed The Wife Between Us this week as well. I hope it is as good as it looks. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteIt does! I feel like most of the Sunday Post I've been seeing is people saying how busy they are - it must be the september school kind of thing. We'll have to compare notes on The Wife Between Us! :)
DeleteSpeak Easy, speak Love sounds good with the bootlegger/ Prohibition thing going on. And The Wife Between Us sounds nice and suspenseful. :)
ReplyDeleteYes, Speak Easy, Speak Love was good with that whole kind of feel! I think it was my first book about the prohibition so I really enjoyed seeing that aspect about it in particular.
DeleteWow! Lots of great books you got here! I'm really interested in Cinderella Screwed Me Over!
ReplyDeleteHere’s my Sunday Post!

Yes, Cinderella Screwed Me Over does look fantastic! I'm hoping I love it.
DeleteI'm so torn!!! They Both Die At the End is one that has me really intrigued and I keep thinking about it, but I hate to be sad or cry! lol! I will have to work myself up to it, I think. lol! Looks like you got a lot a great books this week! I hope you have a great week, and happy reading!
ReplyDeleteYou NEED to read to They Both Die at the End! It's literally a must lol my suggestion is to read some really happy books before it and some really happy books after it - it will help ease the pain.
DeleteSpeak Easy Speak Love sounds like a book I'd enjoy. I can't resist books set in the 20s! I'm curious about The Wife Between Us. I've heard some hints about it and it sounds like twisty goodness! And I'm thinking Cinderella Screwed Me Over may be the best title I've seen in awhile! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteWoW amazing haul this week. I'm definitely adding Cinderella Screwed Me Over to my TBR right now, it sounds absolutely fantastic. Enjoy the rest of your week :)
